A few reminders:

Dear Parents,

I am SO proud of all of the students!  They are working very hard on their Write Score Writing Assessment, despite the exciting snow flurries!  I can’t wait to see their growth as writers in the opinion genre!

Tomorrow the students will take their class and spring pictures.  We are also going on our field trip to the Cobb Safety Village.  We will be taking our pictures in the morning before we leave for the field trip.  There will not be enough time for the students to change clothes.  Please send your child in clothes that are appropriate for pictures, but will be comfortable enough to go on a field trip.  The students will be active participants in safety simulations.  My recommendation is for all students to wear pants.  Your child will also need to bring a coat.

All planet projects are due on Thursday with their rubrics.

The Wax Museum is on Friday!  Please make plans to attend this fun event.  The showings will be from 9:00-10:00 and 1:00-1:45.  The students are working very hard to prepare for our special day.  Please make sure your child has completed the “Acts of Valor Graphic Organizer,” so they can prepare to write their speech.  The students need to practice their speeches (even in front of a mirror) so they will be comfortable as their famous person on Friday.

The students are welcome to bring Valentines for their classmates.  If a child is giving out Valentines, they need to give each classmate a Valentine.  The students are encouraged to bring in a decorated box or bag to collect all of their treats.  :o)

The students will take their Domain Specific Words Test on Friday.  The words were given on Monday, February 7th.  Please encourage your child to study nightly.

Progress reports go home on Friday.  Thank you for checking your child’s grades throughout the nine weeks on ParentVUE.

Winter Break is Monday, February 15 – Friday, February 19.  Enjoy a well deserved break!!!

The Six Flags Read to Succeed reading logs went home on Friday.  They are due Friday, February 26th.  Document on the log that your child has read six hours, and your child will earn a free ticket to Six Flags over the summer.  Each child should be reading thirty minutes each night for homework.  :o)

Thank you for your support in our partnership for your child’s success.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
