Dear Parents,

Your child will be taking domain specific words quizzes throughout the year.  These quizzes serve as a preview or review for our science and social studies vocabulary.  The students will be responsible for copying the words from board on Monday morning.  They will write the definition, illustrate a picture, and craft an original sentence for each domain word.  The words along with the activities will be due on the following Tuesday.  Depending on the week, the students may have one or two weeks to study.  Two grades will stem from the domain words quiz- spelling and content (science or social studies).  Your child will write the quiz in his or her agenda.

The students were responsible for writing their domain specific words for week one in class today.  They will have the weekend and next week to prepare for the test on Friday August 12, 2016.

We are having a fantastic first week of getting to know each other!  I am excited to work with your children!  It’s going to be a great year!  Earlier this week, the students participated in a STEM challenge to save our gummy worm friend, Fred.  We had a couple of teams who were successful.  🙂

I can’t wait to see each of you at Open House on Thursday night.  I will be sharing important information about the curriculum and grading.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.

Dear Families,

It was wonderful to see so many of you at sneak a peek this morning!  I am looking forward to meeting many more of you tonight at our evening session.  I can’t wait for Monday morning to come so we can get started on our fabulous fourth grade journey.

Open House is just around the corner on Thursday, August 11th at 6:00 p.m.  Make plans to attend and learn important information about communication, grades, and curriculum.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any concerns or questions.

I can’t believe we only have a few more days to go!  I am soaking up every minute with your amazing children!  All work is due this Friday, May 20th.  I will accept work until the last day of school, however, I would love to do some fun activities on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.

Monday we are having a game day.  Please allow your child to bring in their favorite game and a snack to share with the class.  We will also clean out desks and cubbies.

Tuesday and Wednesday the students will be dismissed at 12:30.

On Wednesday, the students who ride the bus will not be allowed to bring anything home.  No backpacks or lunch boxes.  If your child normally brings their lunch, pack it in all disposable packaging.

Thank you for all of your support this year!!!

Can you believe it’s time turn in our books for the summer?  All books are due to the Media Center tomorrow.  Thank you for your help!

The summer is a fantastic time to visit your local library!  Don’t forget to participate in the Scholastic Summer Reading Challenge!

I am honored and humbled by all of the gracious teacher appreciation gifts.  You are all so sweet to think of me.  I am enjoying the beautiful bouquet of flowers and your notes warmed my heart!  I loved opening the beautiful gift basket from the class.  The true gift is being able to teach all your wonderful children each day.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.  You are truly the best!

We had a wonderful career day!  Thank you to Dr. McNealey for coordinating all of the wonderful speakers.  We would like to send a very special thank you to Mr. Zych, Mr. Dikko, Mr. Najewski, and Officer Cole for inspiring our class!  We enjoyed learning about your occupations and appreciate your words of encouragement.

Mr. Dikko shared a wonderful website where the students have the ability to build virtual buildings.  You can access the website through the following link.
